Buffalo Garden Walk

buffalo002_269x178Where can you ogle 300 beautiful gardens for free? At the Buffalo Garden Walk, which takes place on July 25 and 26. This is one of my favourite self-guided walking tours. Not only are there some great gardens, but it’s a chance to look beyond the outlet malls and explore the many unique and interesting neighbourhoods in a city that deserves to be better-known. If you find yourself in the charming Allentown district at lunch time, be sure to try the falafels at The Falafal Bar — they’re sooo gooood!

Here are some of my favourite gardens from the 2006 tour (much too long ago — time to visit again!)

  1. It’s my favorite garden tour too. But I’m impartial. I’m the president of the group. And you’re all invited. It’s free. No tickets, no registration. There’s even a free shuttle bus to take you around from area to area. Just get a map and started touring the 341 gardens open for a visit. It’s the largest garden tour in the country, well, this country (U.S.). We get between 40,000-50,000 visitors from around the U.S. and Canada. With the creative ideas you’ll find in our gardens, it’s like getting a Ph.D. in gardening in two days.
